We're Getting Married!

It was a warm sunny day in Ann Arbor, Michigan, at the Ross School of Business. Ruben was strolling into Day 3 of the MAcc program orientation, when he noticed a damsel in distress, Minori, who was looking for a name tag, which was nowhere to be found. Ruben introduced himself and went about his day. Fast forward to Michigan versus Northern Illinois game in the 2021 football season. After having an undisclosed number of drinks, Ruben headed to the MAcc football program pregame, where he noticed Minori standing with her friends. With some liquid courage, he went and talked to Minori and asked for her number. However, the next day, he checked his phone and saw a picture of a random contact information card in Japanese… well Ruben did not know what language it was. A few weeks later and out of the blue, Ruben got a text from an unknown number…. It was from Minori!!!! She said she got his number from someone in the program and had a question on homework. For those of you who were not in attendance at our University of Michigan graduation, Minori was officially honored as being in the top 20% of our class, while Ruben received an unofficial “Meme King superlative”, so we will let you decide who should have been asking who for homework help. After chatting for a bit over text, a few memes (only from Ruben), and saying hello each day in various classes, Ruben asked Minori to grab coffee and the rest was history! After graduating from Michigan, Minori and Ruben both started their careers at Deloitte, although in different cities. Even though they were not physically in the same city, it sure felt like it as Minori could ping Ruben any time or night depending on the time of year. During this period, Ruben made several trips to Michigan, and Minori made several trips to Charlotte, in addition to numerous trips to Disney world, Chicago, New York City, and Las Vegas to name a few. After two years of long distance, Ruben convinced Minori to transfer to the Charlotte office, which was a monumental ask. That following summer, Ruben asked the most important question he would ever ask. Ruben asked Minori if she would do life with him!! Minori, who knew the whole plan that day, as she did not want any surprises (she planned the whole thing), said YES!! We thank everyone for taking the time out of their life to celebrate this special day with us! We appreciate each and everyone of you and the impact that you all had on our lives. Cheers!
