Chantae joined Minji’s pharmacy class of 2025 after finishing his military service in Korea in 2021. We were both independent, found our core group of friends, and just focused on getting through another semester.

Still basically strangers, but we’d exchange small talk sitting across from each other in pharmaceutics lab—made much better by having Shelley and John at our table!

We coincidentally landed the same fall internship—same company, role, and location. We took the same commute, sat next to each other, and spent the next four months getting to know each other over lunch every day. The more we talked, the more we realized how aligned we were in our values, goals, and vision for the future.

One day we were riding bikes along the Charles River and sat by the Esplanade. Sun was setting on a warm October night and we both knew at that moment, we were more than friends.

Dating never felt so easy. With the stress of pharmacy school and post-graduation plans, it felt reassuring having each other by our side. We wanted to stick together after pharmacy school, so we pursued opportunities that could hopefully help us land in the same city!

Minji was confident she would get engaged once they moved to New Jersey after the summer. Never did she imagine Chantae would be booking a flight to California hours after hers to propose to her in Newport Beach, California...Minji thought Chantae was in Puerto Rico...

We couldn’t be happier—figuring out life in a new city with our dream jobs, reconnecting with old friends, making new ones, and doing it all together. We feel incredibly lucky to celebrate this moment surrounded by the people who have shaped our lives!
