Our Story
Hannah and John met in 2017 on a volunteer trip through Oakland University's Alternative Spring Break program to Give Kids the World Village (GKTW) in Kissimmee, FL. GKTW is an all-inclusive resort that works with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to offer free stays for children with terminal illnesses and their families. Hannah and John were randomly paired together as ride operators for their first volunteer shift. Many families were out enjoying their complimentary Disney park passes, which left Hannah and John some time just to talk. The friendship was immediate and they both sensed it was something special.
Hannah and John remained close friends for the following years despite often living in different states. The stars finally aligned at the end of 2023, when they both lived in the same place and went on a long overdue first date.
John proposed on February 8th, 2025 on a beach in FL, and that night they returned to GKTW to volunteer at the very spot they had met 8 years prior.
