Minerva and John met in 2021 while boarding a flight in Guadalajara, Mexico. John was heading home from visiting family, and Minerva was wrapping up a trip with her friend. As they waited to board, Minerva noticed John standing in front of her and tapped his shoulder, asking, “Are you from LA?” That simple question sparked a connection neither expected. At first, John was a bit standoffish, unsure who’d just approached him, but once they started talking, he couldn’t help but notice how beautiful and kind Minerva was. They exchanged info, kept in touch, and soon after, John flew back down to see her. Living in Portland at the time, he drove two hours from L.A. to San Diego for their first date, a night filled with laughter, dinner, drinks, and dancing that neither would forget. From that moment, they knew this was something special. Over the next six months, John flew down every few weeks to see Minerva, and together they even took their first trip to Cancun. When an opportunity arose in Portland, Minerva moved north to join him, and they built a life together there for two wonderful years before moving back home to Los Angeles. In August, John proposed at Sunset Cliffs in San Diego, the place where they shared their very first date and took their first photos together.
