Things To Do

Syracuse and the surrounding area, known as Central New York, for reasons that are obvious, or will become so if you consult a map, is where Oranges were originally grown by the Indigenous American, hence the nickname for the University's sports teams. While Oranges no longer grow here, CNY has rolling hills, woods and marshes, glacial valleys, with rivers meaning through a landscape that is studded with lakes and smaller bodies of water. Syracuse has fun spots through the city: theaters, music venues, museums, most of which you will not be seeing, because you will be busy with us. That said, we have some places we love that we'd like to share for those moments when you aren't with us, or thinking about us, if that is even possible.

Green Lakes State Park

7900 Green Lakes Road, Fayetteville, NY 13066

Two jewels of lakes out in Fayetteville. They are a relatively rare type of lake known as meromictic, which is something you can look up if you don't know what those are. Never stop learning.

Labrador Hollow Unique Area

Labrador Road, Tully, NY 13159

It's a unique area, what more could you want? Excellent hiking. We failed to find ramps here last year, but it was very late in the season.

Everson Museum of Art

401 Harrison Street, Syracuse, NY 13202

Designed by I.M. Pei. See, we have culture.

Salt City Market

484 South Salina Street, Syracuse, NY 13202

Salt City Market is a vibrant food hall and community hub in downtown Syracuse, featuring local vendors, global cuisines, and a lively, welcoming vibe. Grab a coffee, a drink, snack or a full meal; it’s just a stone’s throw from the Hotel Syracuse. Min’s favorite is the birria tacos from ElleRae’s Taco, and at Habiba’s Ethiopian Kitchen, Ben recommends…well, anything on the menu.

Stroll Armory Square

Syracuse, NY 13202

Armory Square is one of the liveliest parts of downtown Syracuse and a great spot for an afternoon wander or a night out. Within just a few blocks you’ll find cute shops, cocktail bars, breweries, and lots of restaurants. It’s also home to the Museum of Science & Technology (MOST). From Armory Square, you can hop on the Onondaga Creekwalk, a scenic path that’s perfect for a stroll.

Gannons Isle Ice Cream

1525 Valley Drive, Syracuse, NY 13207

Superb ice cream, which is made in-house. Don't speak ill of it within earshot of Ben. Min will often get the soft serve. This is wrong, but we all have our blind spots.
