A visa is NOT required to travel to Mexico, but a passport IS required. Some notes: - All guests including children require a passport. - Passport must not be expired.
The Dreams Resort and Spa is very safe - but always practice standard precautions with cash and valuables. If you decide to venture outside of the resort, Huatulco is a relatively safe small town. You will notice low local and tourist traffic compared to other common destinations in Mexico. Petty crimes such as pickpocketing and bag snatching are not widespread - but maintain vigilance and exercise common precautions such as concealing expensive items and avoiding walking after dark.
We highly recommend staying at the all-inclusive Dreams Resort and Spa. Most guests (including the bride and groom) will be staying at the Dreams, where all wedding-related events are taking place. A limited number of discounted rooms are available for early booking; reach out to Matt or Michelle to grab one! It is not required that you stay at the Dreams to attend the ceremony and reception, however other events may require purchase of a day-pass.
Please buy as soon as possible as prices can go up closer to the wedding date. Remember to fly into HUX airport.
We recommend light colors and fabrics. Don't forget: - Passports!!! - Swimsuits - Lots of sunscreen - Long pants and closed-toed shoes are required at some restaurants - Bug spray to be safe, but not usually needed
In October, Huatulco is typically warm, with highs in the mid-80s and lows in the 60s at night. Rainfall in October is rare, but always a possibility. Expect moderate humidity.
There is plenty to do on the resort, including 6 bars and 7 restaurants, beach games, water sports and activities (kayaking, snorkeling, jet skiing, etc.), evening entertainment and performances, and more. If you choose to venture outside of the resort, there are 3 main towns around the base of Huatulco: Crucecita, Santa Cruz, and Tangolunda. Hotels usually can arrange transportation to and from these towns.
If you plan to stay at the Dreams, you won't need Mexican Pesos. US Dollars are accepted for tips and additional purchases (spa, excursions, etc.). If you plan on traveling outside the resort, we recommend exchanging your US dollars for Mexican Pesos at the airport. ATMs are available at most hotels and throughout the city. Major credit cards are accepted at most hotels and restaurants.
Huatulco is a tourist destination, and as such, locals are friendly and many speak English. At resorts and hotels, English will be widely spoken.
