Wedding weekends = lots of drinking and unhealthy foods. Take a few minutes to walk it out and enjoy beautiful views of the Susquehanna River. P.S. this is where Benji and Mina got engaged!
This is a staple in the Federman-Hoblitz household and if you've visited us for the weekend, we've taken you here! Grab a coffee, homemade treat (great GF options), or some art work from Carol's . If you're lucky, Greg will be playing his acoustic guitar and singing solid throwbacks.
A great place to grab breakfast or lunch. They close at 2 PM so you'll want to get there early. Fun fact: the owners of the Owego Kitchen, Juli and Ike Lovelass purchased the former Owego Female Seminary (just a few streets down) which used to be a day school for young ladies. The school is now known as the Belva Lockwood Inn (where the bride and groom are staying) and a snapshot of the renovation project can be seen on HGTV's House Hunters. In 1863 Belva Lockwood bought the property and was Principal of the Seminary until 1865. Belva sold the home and moved to Washington D.C. in 1879. She was the first woman to be admitted to the Bar. She later became the first woman to argue a case in front of the supreme court. Belva went on to run for President of the United States in 1884 & 1888.
Calling all history buffs! While a little spooky, this cemetery is home to some pretty influential people like Thomas Platt (1833-1910), former member of the NYS Senate and party boss. You can also skip tomb raiding and head to the top of the hill to see Sa-Sa-Na Loft's monument and a stunning lookout at the Village of Owego and Susquehanna River.
The Taughannock Falls are a must-see and great day time adventure! The Taughannock Falls plunges 215 feet past rocky cliffs that tower nearly 400 feet above the gorge. Gorge and rim trails offer spectacular views from above the falls and from below at the end of the gorge trail. The falls are one hour from Owego!
