Most everything will be outdoors. Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, the ceremony venue, is limited to 50 people and is outside. Stowe Manor, the reception venue, has a huge lawn area where we will be focusing most of the gathering. We encourage you to bring your own sanitizer even though we will provide it throughout the party. Food will be served cafeteria style, with perhaps a few snacks takeaway style. All in all we have invited 90-100 people total. If that is too many people for you to feel comfortable, we completely understand and would really appreciate a decline on the RSVP. If you have been exposed to or are showing symptoms of COVID-19, please do not hesitate to tell us. We would rather be safe than infect 80-90 of our closest humans. If you have been vaccinated, feel free to tell us that too! The more the better. The happy couple has had their first jabs! Masks are still required though. We're big on masks.
Yes. Yes you do. We've been in a pandemic for over a year. While people are slowly being vaccinated (yay!), we all have jobs, family, and moral ground to continue to stand on against spreading COVID-19. Not to mention staying on the right side of NC law. This isn't the Wild West like it is in SC!
As of now the mandates are only through 3/31/21 and can be viewed online here (https://www.nc.gov/covid-19/staying-ahead-curve) Some of these will probably still apply, but the main focus is gathering size, masks, and time to legally serve/consumer alcohol at a private event.
Because of the pandemic, we have had to severely cut the original guest list. (We wouldn't recommend the experience.) As much as we would like to say the more the merrier, we cannot offer plus ones.
Garden, cocktail, and semi-formal attire are all welcome. Keep in mind the terrain (lawn, old house) and the climate (late April in the South). Feel free to kick those heels off.
Please RSVP by April 3 so we can get that final guest count to the vendors.
We'll have a small but mighty selection of refreshments (beer! wine! sodas!). If you have something you'd like to share with the happy couple or fellow guests, feel free to bring it. There will probably be a bottle share bar, so bring anything you'd like to share to celebrate! In a COVID-safe way.
Mexican and Indian, our favorites. Both will have vegetarian options, both served cafeteria style. Al fresco dining strongly encouraged!
We love your kids — we really do. But we want our wedding to be your day off! We'd love to focus on celebrating with the big kids in our lives on this day.
First Presbyterian Church has graciously allowed us wedding parking in their lot! It's across the street at 102 South Central Avenue. Please park there.
Can't smoke here! Help us keep our security deposit and take the cigarette breaks offsite. Smoking is prohibited on the premises, probably because of the whole house-burned-to-the-ground-in 1922 thing.
