Colin and I met in college at SUNY Cobleskill. He was actually the male RA for the floor I lived on in my residence hall. We saw each other often and started to hang out more and more. We hit it off and went on a lot of hikes and adventures together. He was so sweet to me and on October 11, 2016 he asked me to be his girlfriend, and the rest was history!

We were on vacation in Ocracoke Island, North Carolina. On Monday afternoon we had gotten back from the beach last and were supposed to all go to dinner together at the brewery. Jess had asked if we’d like to go to the beach at sunset before we went to dinner to take some photos. Colin really seemed like he didn’t want to go but I thought it was important so I said we’d be there. Right before we were about to head out, Jess said that Mike had broke his sandal and it was the only ones he had so they had to go to the store quick and they would meet us there (little did I know they were really just going to the beach early to set up). So we met up with them a little while later at the beach and Colin and I took some photos of Mike and Jess and they took some photos of Colin and I. Jess then said she wanted some of her and I, so we started posing while Mike was supposedly taking the photos of us but in reality was recording a video. Colin was kind of behind me and off to the side but I didn’t think anything of it. Mike starting turning towards the side a bit and I felt he wouldn’t get a good angle of Jess and I so I said “should we be turning a little?” And he said “yeah sure you can turn” then I heard Colin say so casually “Hey Katelyn” so I turned around and he was down on one knee and said “will you marry me?” I was in shock and kept asking if he was joking, then after I was done with asking that about 50 times he said “so what’ll it be Katie-Sue?” And I said “YES”! After, I was still in shock and we got up and Jess took some photos of us. Jess then said “there’s still more...” we walked down the beach a little more and there was a whole set up in a cove of sand dunes with a blanket and pillows down, a photo of us with some flowers and an ice bucket with champagne and 2 wine glasses. I was completely surprised yet again! After having a moment to ourselves to soak it all in, we joined Colin's family back at the restaurant for some dinner! Such an amazing night!
