We swiped right! The moment Ryan saw Emily's dating profile he knew she was THE one. Just kidding!! However, it was love in the modern age, and we met through the dating app Bumble. On our first date we met up for a glass of wine at a local Chicago bar. Emily got to the bar first and decided to taste a couple of wines before settling on a glass. She accidentally swallowed a sip down the wrong pipe and was coughing and sputtering as her dream man walked up and tried to introduce himself in the midst of all of her coughing and bright red face. It was a memorable first impression that still brings us laughs today!

All of Ryan's carefully laid plans went right out the window at the last minute as Chicago was issued a stay at home order the week of the big day. Thank you pandemic! But it turned out for the best. We had a beautiful, private, romantic date night at home. Ryan amazingly still managed to pull off a big surprise with dinner from a favorite restaurant, dozens of roses, amazing wine, and candles. After dinner, while sipping wine on our balcony, he got down one knee, poured his heart out and asked. It was the best! Looking back it was exactly the proposal we both wanted and was very special at home just the two of us.
