The Provo MTC is where our lives started. Adjusting to missionary life, learning to teach the gospel to strangers, and spending every second of the day with someone you barely know. It was the hardest and most exciting 3 weeks. Danny doesn't remember, but the MTC cafeteria is the first place we met. Millie remembers talking to the other sisters in her district about how Elder Smith looked just like Stephan Salvatore from Vampire Diaries. Then after we left for the Great White North, we'd hardly see each other while serving our missions. Danny spent all his time in the city while Millie was out in the boonies of Alberta, but neither of us minded. The mission prepared us for life back in Utah. After over a year, both of us were back in Utah but living completely separate lives. Wasn't until Millie's birthday in October that they reconnected when Danny wished her a happy birthday. Started out awkward, but once they realized how similar they are things blossomed to be a beautiful connection. 16 months later and they finally started their lives together. Thanks for being apart of this special day!
I had woke up this saturday morning planning on seeing Danny around noon for lunch and a trip to the store - no other expectations which is exactly what I got. Danny came over, we ate, we shopped and we even just chilled and watched a video before we left for the canyon drive. To me, it was a normal day. I had a friend invite us to a party in Provo Canyon that morning which lined up perfect with our plans and Danny seemed totally chill with it. We left for the canyon and along the way his friend Zach called, but I was oblivious to the conversation. I had thought that he may have been inviting us to a game of disc golf or something, so I ignored it. Then Danny really wanted to stop by Tibble Fork, even though I didn't see the point because it was kind of out of the way of the drive. But we went to "remake a picture of us from Febuary" and Danny had to "use the bathroom." Then we started our drive. The Alpine Loop is pretty and chill. I started to get sleepy and ready to head back down, so every time Danny suggested we stop and look around, I just wanted to keep heading forward. I did suggest we stop to pick up wildflowers for our scrapbook real fast. Then Danny insisted on stopping at this look out his friend told him about. So, we stopped and looked around, took a selfie and then I was ready to get back on the road, but Danny kept walking around the place. He began walking to this tent that someone had been camping in for the Labor Day weekend, and I got really anxious. It was so strange to me. He told me to follow him but I felt so uncomfortable walking up to someone else's tent. He grabbed my hand though and led me to this trail right next to the tent. There was a trail of rose petals leading up to this amazing picnic laid out with photos and food. Even being there, I thought maybe our "nice dinner" was a cute picnic in the mountains. Boy, am I glad I was wrong.
This story begins a week before the actual proposal.
