It depends on when you plan to get in and what you'd like to do (besides attend the wedding) while you're here. South Bend is a bigger city relative to Niles and has more to offer in the way of dining and entertainment. It is less than 5 minutes from the wedding venue. Niles is a small but close knit town with a few great places to eat and drink, and is also very close to the wedding venue. The wedding party will be staying at the Morris Estate in Niles.
