As y’all know, my dad owns an Anytime Fitness in Sanford. I started working there as a personal trainer and noticed Matt on my very first day. I knew there was something special about him right away. I would always train my clients near him cause I was too shy to actually talk to him. I’d listen to how sweet he was to others and watch his humble confidence for the next few weeks. Sanford is a relatively small town and Matt was a police officer there so he was pretty well known. I started to ask around to find out if he was single. Unfortunately, he wasn’t so I left it alone and started to totally ignore him like single girls do! About a year later, an older guy at the gym who had been trying to set me up with people finally started to give up on me. He was exasperated asking,”Who can I set you up with that you’d be happy with?!” Matt walked by and when he was out of earshot I said, “Find me my own Matt Cotten and I’ll be happy!” Well, it turns out Matt has been in this man’s store about a month prior and he was now single. Hallelujah! I don’t know if it was the fact I stopped ignoring him or fate, but Matt and I started talking just days after that and we have been inseparable ever since. I had an opportunity to be promoted to another one of our gyms about an hour away, but I still got my Matt Cotten out of Sanford!
