There are many picnic spots. One is only a 10-minute drive from Downtown, Fort Collins, along the Poudre River. If you have few hours to spare, we recommend making lunch or dinner reservations at the Mishawaka. The food is nothing special but it sits over the river and is a beautiful place to eat a burger or some fish and chips: https://www.visitftcollins.com/things-to-do/parks-open-spaces/cache-la-poudre-river/
