Megan had met Brian's brother, Mike (George), back in 2014 at Kettle Moraine CrossFit, and the two of them quickly became good friends. After years of being in a relationship, Megan became single again, and Brian saw Megan pop up as a mutual friend of Mike on Facebook. Brian thought Megan was pretty, and sent Megan a friend request. Megan always knew that Mike had an older brother, because Mike would always talk about what an awesome guy his brother was and he'd brag on his little niece, Summer - Brian's daughter. Megan accepted Brian's Facebook friend request on January 29th, and they talked via text, Facebook messenger and phone for several hours that day. Realizing that there was an undeniable spark between them, they agreed to meet for the first time the very next day after Megan got off of work on January 30th. Brian introduced Megan to his many house plants (LOL!), and the two of them laughed and talked for hours. Their connection was very instant and easy. And the rest, as they say, is history.
The day after Megan and Brian met for the very first time, Brian asked Megan out on their first date. Brian knew Megan enjoyed chicken wings - but Megan being from the boonies didn't know much about wings other than BW3's. So he asked her on a date nite to Jonny Hammer's, which he promised Megan were the best wings in all of Milwaukee. AND HE WAS RIGHT. Megan and Brian sat at what is now the "Grateful Dead" table at Hammer's, and enjoyed several of their amazing wings. Megan was happy that she was fed such delicious chicken, and knew that she wanted to enjoy this chicken with that wonderful man for many more times to come. After dinner, Brian took Megan to his favorite watering hole, Annie's Place in Hales Corners. He drank beer. She drank whiskey. They played jukebox games and shot some pool. They laughed and danced for hours. Brian then noticed in the dim lights that Megan had flecks of yellow and gold in her brown eyes - and that's when Megan knew that Brian was THE ONE.
Brian's beautiful daughter, Summer, was 4 years old at the time - and she is the love of his life. Brian and Megan had both agreed that they did not want to really rush into Megan meeting Summer for the first time. They wanted to make sure that they had a good foundation, and that their relationship would, in fact, be long term. On March 8, 2017, Brian's dad and step-mother came into town to take Brian out for his birthday to Matty's in Muskego. Brian thought that this would maybe be a good opportunity to test the waters with Megan and Summer, since he'd have his dad there too. So Brian invited Megan to dinner with all of them. Summer and Megan did not make contact right away, as Megan just wanted to observe and allow Summer to approach her, if Summer felt comfortable enough to do so. While at dinner, Summer asked Megan to color with her. As they were coloring together, Summer asked Megan what was on the middle finger of her right hand, Megan explained to Summer that it was a tattoo. When Summer asked if the tattoo was there forever, Megan said, "Yes, but I don't like it. Do you want to try taking it off for me?" And Summer proceeded to rub it, blow on it and even licked it to try and get it off. LOL! Megan and Summer laughed and laughed. And when dinner was over, Megan and Summer had a running race in the parking lot to the car, and then Summer asked Megan to sit next to her on the car ride home. Megan and Summer's bond only continued to strengthen in the months to come - and the two became bonded and fell in love with one another. Summer is Megan's best girl, and has given Megan's life so much purpose. Megan is so thankful and blessed that Brian brought her little chicken (Summer) into her life.
Brian had planned a family hike at one of Megan's favorite places in all of Milwaukee - Seven Bridges/Grant Park for that Sunday. Summer had a sleepover by her Granny the nite before, and so Brian and Megan had planned to drive up to Menomonee Falls to go pick her up, and then head on the hike. That morning was a little strange. Brian decided to wear khaki cargo shorts for the hike, which isn't really appropriate hiking attire. Megan questioned this, and Brian said that those shorts were just what he wanted to wear that day. Not thinking much else of it, the two of them went to breakfast. Brian was also a bit off kilter and seemed very anxious at breakfast. Megan even pointed it out and was truly wondering if everything was okay with him. After breakfast, the two of them went to pick up Summer and continue on their adventure for the day. Megan decided to turn this hike into a ruck, so when they got to Grant Park, she geared up and got ready to go at the car while Brian and Summer went up to use the restroom. After everyone was all settled, the three of them began on their hike. They made their way through the woods and down the famous beautiful staircase to the lake shore and beach. They walked up the beach quite a ways away from other people who had been out there that day when Brian exclaimed, "Megan, turn around!" Naturally just being in the woods and out in nature, Megan immediately thought there was a spider on her (her biggest fear). She turned around and began to have a mild panic attack. She was yelling, "GET IT OFF ME! GET IT OFF ME!" Then Summer told Megan to turn around, and she was still panicking. But when Megan turned around, Summer asked her, "Will you marry my Daddy?" It was then Megan realized Brian was down in the sand on one knee with the most beautiful ring. Megan immediately began crying and was in total shock. And since you're on the wedding website reading this, she obviously said "YES"!!!!!!!!!!!!!
