As you can probably guess from the title, the first time sparks really flew was on a boat on Ten Mile Lake. It was a hot July Sunday afternoon, and the lake was the perfect place to cool off. We spent the day basking in the sun, catching up with friends, and taking in the scenery. As the afternoon came to a close, Isaac needed a ride back to Crossville. Sarah just so happened to be headed that way, and out of the kindness of her heart, though, let’s be honest, mostly because she didn’t want their time together to end, she offered him a ride. If you know Sarah, you know she doesn’t just offer rides to anyone, so this was a big deal. After that car ride, Sarah knew something was different about Isaac. He was charming, witty, and genuinely funny, and she couldn’t stop thinking about him, or talking about him to her sisters. Over the next few months, we took things slow. We spent time together whenever we could, getting to know each other more with every moment. What Sarah didn’t know was that Isaac was already head over heels. When the opportunity finally came one night after a youth activity, he didn’t hesitate. Our first date was at Fire & Vine in Cookeville, and neither of us ate more than three bites. We were nervous, be nice. Since then, we’ve traveled to Mexico with Sarah’s family, enjoyed incredible food, spent time on the beach, and even gone whale watching. We bought a house, worked side by side to build Isaac’s small business, and created a life we can't wait to spend forever living. Isaac proposed on Christmas Eve in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Obviously, Sarah said yes, and yes she cried. It felt surreal and absolutely perfect. Surrounded by family and friends, we shared our first kiss as an engaged couple. It’s been one year and 8 months since that first day on the lake, and it has easily been the best chapter of our lives. We’ve gone from boat rides and nervous first dates to planning our forever, and we feel incredibly lucky that we get to keep choosing each other every single day. We can’t wait to celebrate this beautiful journey with all of you.
