How We Met

High School Sweethearts

Before Noah and I were introduced, we had known each other’s siblings throughout various high school classes. Noah’s sister, Hannah, was my section leader in the marching band. Noah and my brother, Kenny, had a math class together and connected over their love for Ford Mustangs. At the beginning of my freshman year of high school, I was introduced to Noah, who was a sophomore at the time and was also in the marching band. I enjoyed his friendship from the very beginning. Noah was outgoing, charismatic, and always tried to put a smile on someone’s face. He would make a special effort to include me in his conversations with friends and would constantly check in and ask how my day was going. For these reasons and many more, I knew I wanted to get to know him better. We began to look for each other during water breaks while at band practice and would even catch each other’s smiles from across the football field. After two years of friendship, I was reassured that our feelings for one another were mutual when Noah asked me out on our first date. We decided to go to a local Chinese restaurant to celebrate his birthday. This date was the first of many in the weeks and months following. A few weeks later, on August 21, 2015, after band practice, we went for ice cream followed by dinner. We then decided we wanted to watch the sunset at the James Rumsey Monument in Shepherdstown, WV, where Noah finally asked me to be his girlfriend. This would end up being the same location for which he asked me to be his wife almost seven years later. I feel so blessed to have found a soulmate and best friend all in one person.
