We met online! We'll spare you the nerdy details, but we bonded over mutual hobbies, and it just evolved from there. We were quick friends, and it was only a matter of time before we would be (metaphorically) inseparable! We clicked instantly, and though we had our fair share of obstacles, we've definitely beaten the odds.
We had just come from the bride's appointment with the diabetic specialist. It was a no-brainer that we'd go to lunch at The Landmark, our favorite spot in Galesburg and the first place we had lunch together. We sat outside in the gorgeous courtyard and enjoyed a delicious meal. The owner had been making his rounds taking photos of customers to use for advertising purposes. It comes time for dessert, and the owner approaches us for a picture. As he raises the camera, the waitress brings out two slices of cheesecake, one topped with a beautiful ring. I look over, and he's out of seat and on one knee. My heart was racing! He held my hand and sweetly asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes! With the ring on my finger, the owner revealed the photos were a ruse; he'd been recording the whole thing for our family! Everyone around us clapped. As I was holding back tears, we waved to the camera, and we indulged in our dessert as a newly engaged couple!
