FROM THE SOUTH (Binghamton/Oneonta) Take I-88 East to Oneonta, Exit 17 to Route 28 North to Cooperstown. After entering the village follow Chestnut Street through the stoplight to Lake Street. Turn left onto Lake Street. The hotel is located on the right overlooking Lake Otsego. VIA PLANE: The closest airport is Albany International Airport, which is approximately 1 hour from Cooperstown. You will need to rent a car and follow the directions above.
Yes, parking is free at the hotel for guests of the hotel and the wedding.
One fun thing about Upstate New York is that it can be snowing one day and sunny and mild the next! The weather in late March can range from a high of 45-50 degrees to a low of 20-30 degrees, and precipitation is variable from beautiful blue crisp skies to snow, sleet and/or rain. Please be sure to check the weather forecast for the weekend to assist with travel and packing. Our ceremony is planned to be outside, so please be sure to bring a coat! In the case of extreme weather the ceremony will be held inside. The cocktail hour and reception will be held inside.
For most wedding events, cocktail attire is preferred. The ceremony is planned to be outside if the temperature is above 40 degrees, so please bring a nice warm coat. All other events will be held inside. Generally speaking the Otesaga requests resort wear. For men, a jacket is not required for the Hawkeye.
Ubers are few and far between in the area, and in most cases non-existent. There is one cab company, All Star Taxi (+1 607 267-1834), but again service is limited. From the Otesaga, the walk to Main Street is about 5 minutes, and driving is less than 2 minutes with easy parking in the Doubleday lot, and with all events being at the hotel there is no transportation being provided.
We will have plenty of food at the cocktail hour and reception, but if you're looking for something before, here are some recommendations: The Hawkeye grill is a great spot for food and drinks, but you will find a few great places to eat just a few blocks away on main street: Doubleday Cafe, Cooperstown Diner, Danny's Market to name a few. Schneider's is a great place for sweet treats! If you are up for an adventure go to the Farmers Market on Saturday morning. For a nicer sit down dinner, try Toscana, Mel's 22, Bocca Osteria or Upstate Bar and Grill. Council Rock brewery is located about a 10 minute drive from the village and has amazing food. Friday fish fry, need we say more? Local tip: On your way into Cooperstown, you will pass through Milford, and The Milford Corner store has amazing Subs!
Drinks will be plentiful during the wedding, but for drinks before, here are some recommendations: Walk over to main street and you will find Doubleday cafe and Cooperstown Distillery. Also on Pioneer street, right north of main street (by the flagpole), is Cooley's Tavern and the Sherman Tavern. Just outside of the village is Upstate Bar and Grill and Bocca Osteria.
Right off of Main Street on south Pioneer street (below the flag pole), is Stagecoach coffee. You can also get light snacks there too. Danny's Market and Schneider's Bakery on Main Street also serve coffee. Additionally, each room in the Otesaga has a Keurig coffee machine.
The closest liquor store is Rudy's at 143 Main Street Or Cooperstown Wine and Spirits at 45 Pioneer Street. To buy beer you will need to go to Price Chopper (the grocery store) located at 113 Chestnut street or Stewart's (the gas station/convenience store) located at 108 Chestnut street. Please note, this is more of a quick drive than a walk. Spurbecks grocery (a childhood favorite of the bride) also has specialty six-packs to go.
The Otesaga has a fitness center that is available to all hotel guests. It is on the lower lobby level, go past the Hawkeye and its down on the right. You will need your room key for access.
Flawless on Main (located right on 124 Main street) does blowouts and can handle any other beauty needs. They have nail services, but only three chairs, you may want to consider getting your nails done before visiting town. It is recommended you call ahead to book any services: +1 607 282 4204
Unfortunately due to the number of amazing people we have in our life, aside from our nieces, nephew, and goddaughter, we are unable to include everyone’s children in our wedding. With all wedding events being held at the hotel, you may want to consider bringing your own babysitter to watch your children at the hotel Friday night and all of Saturday. The hotel is not pet friendly, dog moms/dads should plan for a pet sitter at home or book a room for your pup at a pet hotel.
If your invitation says your name "and guest", yes. If it does not, we would prefer if it was just you.
