How it all Started

We have known each other since Freshman year of high school where Lucas went to the all boys school, St. Augustine High School and Jessica went to the all girls school, Our Lady of Peace. We had similar friends and always stayed connected, from adventures with our friends, high school parties, and going to Prom together (just in the same group, not as dates.) Once we graduated high school we remained friends and whenever we crossed paths it was like no time had passed. Then 2020 happened...COVID-19 hit and the whole world changed. Jessica was living with her best friends, Mary and Zoey, in North Park and Lucas just moved in with our friend Billy only 5 minutes away. In August 2020, Jessica messaged Billy if he wanted to hang out and both Billy and Lucas were free. To this day, we reminisce about that night because we had so much fun! After that night, we always gravitated towards each other at get togethers with our friends and if there was a game involved we were always partners. Little did we know, some of our friends noticed a connection and they were strategic in setting us up. Jessica started to come over almost every weekend and feelings grew. Since it was during COVID times, everything was closed so our first date was simply just walking Lucas' dog Kobe around the neighborhood. After many walks, Jessica finally asked, "What is going on? What are we doing? Because I like you." The rest is history.

The Proposal

7/13/24

We love having picnics at the park either at Presidio Park (where our venue is) or Bird Park in our neighborhood. Lucas told me that we were going to dinner at Bali Hai with his family in the afternoon and asked to have a park day at Bird Park before we went to dinner. We got to the park and sat under a tree, where Lucas poured two glasses of wine. I noticed that Lucas was quiet, but just continued to enjoy the view and the wine. Lucas turned to me and said "I love you. I just love you. I love you." He got on one knee and said, "Will you marry me?" and displayed the most beautiful ring. My friend came out from behind a tree and started to take pictures. Then both of our families came from around the block and surprised us to celebrate! It was the most perfect day and the easiest "Yes!"
