Miles and Kelsey met when a couple mutual friends invited them to dinner before a party in the Columbia Heights neighborhood. They instantly hit it off and spent the entire night talking. Thanks to the best intentions of some good friends who noticed their attraction, a few "group hangs" were arranged to bring them together. Kelsey finally asked Miles out for brunch, and Miles - who was on his way into the office on a Saturday - turned his truck around and headed straight for brunch. A couple Nats games, trips to the Outer Banks, and some bougie DC Restaurant Week dinners later they have been inseparable. The rest is history!
As part of their typical kick off to the summer, Miles and Kelsey spent their 5th anniversary in the Outer Banks visiting Kelsey's sister and family. On the way back, Miles suggested a stop in Williamsburg, VA for lunch. With the weather on his side and a rock in his pocket, they grabbed lunch at The Cheese Shop and strolled through town. Miles guided the walk to the William & Mary campus (Kelsey's alma mater) and across the Crim Dell Bridge. Legend states that if you walk across the bridge with your significant other, you'll be together forever. Early in their relationship Kelsey had walked Miles across the bridge unknowingly, as Miles's alma mater is not known for legends or traditions, Miles thought an extra crossing for luck was better safe than sorry. Their walk ended strolling back up the Sunken Garden and in front at the historic Wren Chapel. It was here, Miles mumbled through a couple low monotone words of affection and dropped to a knee to propose.
