About Us

First comes swiping then comes coffee

Like so many millennials before us, we used our thumbs to expand the dating pool. Let's be clear - 99% of first dates are awkward (thank God Eileen has a two-date policy), but let's get to the important stuff. Bringing the FUNN to us - our second date was at Richmond's minor league team, The Flying Squirrels, where the proud slogan is to "Have Funn & Go Nutz!" This was a particularly special Squirrels game with in-your-face fireworks and some pride night pizzazz. This is where we learned two important things - Miles needs to watch baseball from the National Anthem onward and Eileen is there for the snacks, nut race, and fireworks. Funn was had and hey, opposites attract. But life is not all in-your-face fireworks - Miles really showed up very early on as a man of service, by bringing Eileen her beloved Nitro cold brew on a sweltering June day at the Sacred Heart Festival. He then braved the crowds of non-English speakers to learn that Al Pastor tacos are in fact the best kind of taco. He's ready to jump in and experience new things like mass (in English and Spanish), non-sports (truly the whole category of the world), and kitchen dance parties. Eileen won him over with her smart aleck humor, frequent dinner parties, and heart for the community. And she's learning more about sports than she could have ever imagined - like the unexpected length of games, the beginning and end of all college sports seasons, and using "at bat" in her otherwise more interesting vernacular. There is one thing they have not aligned on...the red "B" on his baseball caps. He seems to think Red Sox, she swears it's Bartolozzi. There is also some debate whether keeping score during game night is more counterproductive than useful. But some things may never resolve. That's all to say this unlikely pair has found something precious: a new home team to join. So here's to Scrabble nights (alternating when to keep score or not), live sporting events, and many dinner parties. Then we might even think about growing our home team. But before all that, we're so incredibly blessed to have each of you in our lives. You loved us before we loved each other and we know we can count on the gift of your friendship even after "I do." Because what has made "us" is the many of "you" who have adventured along our paths to now. So we'd love to have you to both celebrate this newly minted team and so we can give you a proper party.

For all the days along the way
