It’s finally....finally happening!

It was Christmas morning 2014, I (Brianna), along with wo of my best friends (shout out Kim and Ketnie!) had endured a long, long night of travel to Cape Town. On vacation from our sites as Peace Corps volunteers in Botswana, we had just settled into our backpackers hoping to rest before our friend Nina arrived later that evening from Zambia. Ketnie however, decided she wanted to buy ferry tickets to Robben Island (Nelson Mandela Tour). Kim and I implored Ketnie to wait for Nina since we had both already been to Robben Island, but Ketnie insisted and we soon found ourselves wandering aimlessly in what we believed to be the general direction of the Cape Town V and A Waterfront. Luckily, two handsome but sweaty and shirtless Capetonian men (okay Vince may actually be from Pretoria but hey) happened to be walking our way! We passed each other and exchanged smiles. Still having no idea where we were going, we decided to ask them for directions. I was nominated for this task. Turns out these helpful gentlemen (Miles & Vince) were not only willing to tell us how to get to the waterfront, but offered to walk us there! Miles and I chatted the whole way over, exchanged numbers, and agreed to meet up later for drinks. We did meet up later that evening, and met up every day for the rest of the week. Miles spent New Years with me, and by then I knew our chance meeting was anything but. Since that Christmas morning back in 2014, not a day has gone by that we haven't spoken. Navigating a three-and-a-half year, long distance relationship (some of it intercontinental) is not easy (thank god for 3G in Letlhankeng), but we sure made it look that way! Now that we are finally together for good in Arizona, we are so excited to be saying "I do" back where it all started, surrounded by the family and friends that have encouraged us along the way. #CapeTown2021 BABY!
