As first responders, our days and schedules are often a bit of a blur; so as a result, the exact day we met is a also a bit of a blur. Our relationship formed from being mere partners in an ambulance, running around from one 911 call to another. From work partners to romantic partners, our love story quickly bloomed. From acquantainces, to friends, to boyfriend/girlfriend, and now as an engaged couple, we cannot be more excited for our wedding!
We are avid adventurers, hikers, and huge fans of National Parks. So during Spring break of 2021, we drove to the Shenandoah National Park to take in some of the beautiful sights that Virginia has to offer. The whole trip was so beautiful. I never had any suspicion that he was going to propose. But one morning we climbed to the highest peak in the Shenandoah Valley; which is Hawksbill Summit. The summit is a little over four thousand feet. It was a brisk, foggy morning because it had rained the night before. The hike was a little over two miles, so nothing too crazy but the incline made the hike very challenging. Little did I know that at the top of the summit, our lives were about to change forever. When we reached the top, I remember thinking how beautiful it was. There were no leaves on the trees at this point so you could see down into the valley for miles. I was looking out into the distance when I heard Miles call my name (and he never uses my real name). I heard something open like a hinge on a box, and I thought to myself there was no way what I thought was happening could actually be happening right now. I turned around and there he was, down on one knee, saying something that was definitely very sweet but I have no idea what he actually said to me. I was so shocked. I just remember saying "no way!" And "are you serious?!" I must have repeated those words a million times because I forgot to say yes when he asked me to marry him the first time, so he wound up asking me to marry him two or three times. Eventually, I pulled it together enough to say "yes!" Fast forward to today... we're loving life and knee deep in wedding planning. We can't wait to celebrate with you all in May!
