Should you wish to contribute, our information is below. But most of all, we really appreciate your presence at our wedding and for joining us in this momentous event. Thank you. Plus you can use them as payment in some cases. - Getting a Suica Card - Purchase one at any JR East train station, including airports. - Cost: ¥2,000 (including a ¥500 deposit and ¥1,500 usable balance). - Suica cards can be topped up at any station or convenience store. - How to Use Suica on Your Mobile Device - For iPhone Users: - Add a Suica card to your Apple Wallet via the Wallet app. You can do this by purchasing a digital Suica from the JR East mobile app, 'Mobile Suica'. - For Android Users: - Download the 'Mobile Suica' app from Google Play. - Register and add a Suica card to use it directly from your phone. Suica and Pasmo cards can also be used in buses and taxis. Some credit cards are accepted in taxis but only cash, suica/pasmo are accepted on buses and trains. Taxis can be pricey so we always recommend this as a last option

Question

Driving in Japan

Answer

Driving in Japan can be daunting but convenient once you get the hang of it. Should you choose to rent a car in Japan, first and foremost, you will need an international drivers’ license. Most successful we have encountered is through Triple A but please feel free to do research on your own. Another thing to note is when you drive in Japan, you are driving on the other side of the road. Only a few countries is this way so please take that in consideration as you decide. Question

Other Things You May Need to Know

Answer

The People: - Japanese people are probably one of the nicest people that you will meet. They are very considerate and helpful. Don’t be shy to ask for help and have your translator ready. They will definitely help you as much as they can. We absolutely love it here and part of it is due to the Japanese people. The Language: - Japanese: It is good to learn a couple of words to get around japan and to interact with people. English is only common in big cities but if you are ever in a bind, make sure you have a translator app ready. The Currency and Cards - Japanese Yen or JPY: It is good to carry cash as some areas and/or stores can only accept cash. You can do money exchange at the airport to get the best deals but if you run out, there are many convenience stores here that have ATMs and you can withdraw yen. On base, you can withdraw dollars - Credit and Debit Cards: major credit and debit cards are accepted in Japan. Please make sure to check with your banks and to notify them of your travel. Weather: - Our wedding will be in the summer. Japan is notoriously hot and humid at this time. Dress appropriately, drink plenty of water, and bring a personal portable fan if you can. Japan has a lot of cooling gadgets and we can share that with you ;)
