In 2023 Mikiah joined a soccer team with some of the Binnendyk girls, and little did she know that this would be the way that she would meet her future husband. One rainy night in November, the girls somehow convinced Curtis to come watch Mikiah play. Now, this wasn’t some picturesque, cinematic drizzle; it was full-blown, freezing cold, soaking wet, “why did I even bother with mascara” kind of rain. But there he was, standing on the sidelines, drenched, probably wondering why on earth he let himself be talked into this. But apparently, that didn't stop Curtis because he came back the next week - no convincing needed and asked Mikiah out. The first date was simple and perfect - a coffee shop (of which to Mikiah's relief there were drinks other than coffee) followed by a walk and plenty of time to get to know each other. One date turned into two and then three and before we knew it Curtis was planning a date to celebrate one year of us dating. On December 7, 2024, one day before their one year Curtis took Mikiah on a date through memory lane, replaying their first date, second date, and six-month date, which led to a sunset at the top of a mountain. It was here that Curtis got on one knee and proposed! God has been so good to both of us - guiding us together in his good timing. It is our prayer that as we continue to plan for our big day and as we enter the next chapter of marriage that we might continue to always remember His faithfulness to us and remain faithful to Him. We are also so thankful for all the people who have encouraged, supported, and walked with us to get to this point! We are so excited to celebrate with you all on July 25, 2025!!
