We met through a LeTourneau University Dual Enrollment class in the Fall of 2018 when we were both seniors in high school. Mikiah was put in a group project with Ben, but the story could have ended when the class ended. After graduating high school, we found ourselves as freshmen at LeTourneau University taking the same class. Throughout the first semester, we ate lunch together at the cafeteria, studied philosophy together, concreted a tile to a wall downtown, and walked "The Loop" a few times :). Winter break comes around and we continued to stay in contact even when Ben was in Mexico and Mikiah was in Colorado. After returning from break, Ben asked to be Mikiah's "significant otter" on January 18th, 2020. We spent about half of our relationship long-distance during the COVID pandemic and school breaks, while the other half was full of juggling each other's class schedules. Almost three years of dating, Ben popped the question in the same spot as when he asked Mikiah to date him. And she said YES! The moment Ben first caught Mikiah's interest was when they were walking from a test to the cafeteria (we called it Saga) for lunch. Ben switched sides on the sidewalk to the side closest to the road. This act of chivalry was one look into the character of a gentleman. Mikiah caught Ben's attention during the conversations at lunch, especially during Warm Cookie Wednesdays. Mikiah's passion during conversation and her attentive attitude drew Ben in.
