As Mikey was working at a children's hospital, he was abruptly approached by a stranger (now a dear friend, Pedro) who struck up a short conversation that started with nothing other than "Hey! Are you single?" and ended with a "Well you need to meet my friend Brittani!" Though not much of a convincing pitch, Mikey thought he'd take his chances. After waiting for Brittani's volunteer day to come around and what seemed like a century of nervously pacing the hallways of the hospital, Mikey plunged into a sea of volunteers to quickly find Pedro's familiar face. With no more than a brief introduction, Mikey and Brittani found themselves stuck in a conversation that neither one wanted to end. One coffee date later and the rest is history!

Knowing that Brittani had mounting suspicions of an upcoming proposal, Mikey sought the creativity of Brittani's friends to devise a keen proposal plan. Playing to Brittani's love for animals, Brittani agreed to attend a totally believable, but entirely fake SPCA benefit event–"Puppies and Pearls." With this covert operation in full swing, Brittani was picked up by a friend and brought to this supposed puppy party that just so happened to be across the street from a park that was the home of many fond memories for the couple. As she stepped out of the car, Brittani was soon captured by the floral arrangements before her and soon found herself meandering along a creekside sidewalk guided by a trail of roses affixed to photos of special moments in their relationship. After rounding a sharp corner, Brittani found Mikey waiting for her. As they completed the rest of the journey hand-in-hand and finally reached the end of the sidewalk, Mikey planted himself on one knee and asked the question he had been long waiting to ask–"Brittani, will you marry me?" And she yes!!
