Her Story: We met one night in New York when my best friend from high school, Allie Nambo, came to see one of my performances. She invited some Corcoran friends to the bar after the show and Matt was among them. I had heard about him a few times because of their friendship, but what I remembered most was seeing his award winning Parkour short film. For those that haven't seen it yet, go straight to the blooper reel. We talked with each other most of the night and I even remember exactly what he was wearing (turquoise graphic t-shirt and some khaki cargo pants). I like to think there was a spark that night. We kept in touch for about a year until our lives finally lined up. We went to the same bar that we first met at and over the course of the night turned our meet up into a date. Our first official date was a week later and then the following week we went on our first road trip together! Thank you Allie for bringing him into my life! His Story: We met almost 4.5 years ago in the East Village when Mikelle had a show in the city. Our dear mutual friend Allie Nambo who Mikelle knew from high school and I had met in college had invited a few of us Corcoran friends to a bar after Mikelles show since we all lived in NYC while she lived in DC. Mikelle and I were the only ones there without a date so we ended up talking all night. Mostly about how awesome it was that she was a professional dancer. And if you know anything about me, which most of you do, I am also a pro dancer, but only when a dance off is a possibility. After that we played phone tag for about a year before meeting up at the same bar in the East Village. I, of course was wearing a t-shirt and shorts while she wore a dress. I remember thinking to myself, “dammit, Matt, why didn’t you at least wear a button down!” And, seeing as I thought she was out of my league, it couldn’t hurt to swing for the bleachers. It didn’t take long before I knew she was the girl for me, my one and only.
