Mike and I met on a plane ride that neither of us was supposed to be on. He bailed on a bachelor party and I missed my flight the week before. Fast forward to September 5, 2020, in the middle of covid where our meeting happened. Southwest connector flight in Vegas to Des Moines is where it all happened. I sat in the window seat, while everyone else was boarding. No one sat next to me until this cute guy asked if he could sit in the aisle seat (the middle seat had to remain free). I said yes and there he sat. I, caring far too much for others, asked this isle partner if the sun bothered him and, of course, the Iowa nice boy said no. Later I would bother him again to tell him he should put his backpack in the middle floorboard to be able to stretch out, with him saying “no I’m good.” A few minutes later he looked at me and said “I will take you up on that” in a laughing manner. I proceeded to tell “him I knew it” in an annoyed manner. The plane was landing and we started talking. He was in town for a week to visit his family but would love to get a drink at some point during that week. We exchanged numbers and the rest is history.
