We met at one of the strangest places, one you'd never think to go looking for love -- grand jury duty. Five days a week, eight hours a day, do your civil duty for a month and get it over with. Shannon postponed her first summons because of college but had no excuse when the State summoned her a second time. After going upstairs reluctantly with almost 200 other people for jury selection, she found one empty seat... next to Mike! She asked if the seat was taken (it wasn't), sat down next to him, and the two of them suffered through the anxiety of jury selection by bingo cage (yes, really). After three juries of 23 people each were randomly chosen, the last jury was finally ready to be selected, and Mike and Shannon were both still free citizens! But, Mike sighed in defeat when his name was called after a few others and stood to take his place with his fellow jurors, fist-bumping Shannon on his way to the stands as she wished him good luck. Only a few more names later and Shannon was called for the exact same group! By sheer luck (and a pinch of destiny), Mike and Shannon ended up on the same jury, and the rest is history.
