Happn is a dating app that's fairly popular in Singapore. When 2 people are in the same vicinity with each other, they come into each other's feed. If you see someone you are interested in, you can “Like” him/her in hopes he/she will like you back, which forms a “Crush” and then will allow you both to start a conversation. However, if you don’t want to wait around for a mutual like (or in this case, when Shabana doesn't "Like" Mike back....), you can send someone a “Charm” which will directly notify that person that you liked them in hopes of getting their attention on you. If both parties "Like" or "Charm" each other, a "Crush" is created and the conversation begins. How it really Happn'd is like this: Step 1: Mike and Shabana are in the same vicinity as each other in Singapore. Step 2: Mike sees Shabana pop up on his feed and fell in love at first sight. He quickly sends a "Like" to her and hopes that she is interested. Step 3: Mike pops up in Shabana's feed but she does not send a "Like." Step 4: Anxious that there was no response from Shabana, Mike sends her a "Charm" which guarantees a direct notification in hopes of getting her attention. Step 5: Mike logs into his app everyday hoping to see a "Like" or "Charm" back from Shabana. Nothing ever received. Step 6: Two to three months later, Mike and Shabana cross paths again. Step 7: Mike desperate for Shabana's attention, sends her a "Charm" again. Step 8: Shabana sees Mike's "Charm" and out of pity, decides to accept and "Charm" back. Step 9: Mike and Shabana begin to chat and based on the conversations, decide to go on their first date. Step 10: Mike picks a nice brunch place for their 1st date and is very excited, but Shabana has to cancel last minute. Luckily for Mike, Shabana is open to rescheduling for dinner during the following week. Step 11: Mike and Shabana meet at a local restaurant and their dinner date goes for 3+ hours.. and the rest is history.
