Church! More specifically, Rachel was rehearsing violin in the atrium of Oak Pointe Church with a grand piano and guitar (Romantic, right?). Mike walked by, then stopped, came over, and listened. Afterwards he got her information for “ministry purposes” (Smooth, Mike. Very smooth). The rest was history.
On December 22nd, 2018, he took Rachel to the town of Chelsea, MI (the town they took their first motorcycle ride to in 2017 and asked her if there was something between them- there was.) to have breakfast and then they walked to a courtyard they had visited on their first trip there. He had been complaining about an itch on his ankle all morning so he got on one knee to “check it out” (at this point Rachel was looking at him with an expression that said: “really?”, since on numerous previous occasions Mike had gotten on one knee next to Rachel to retie his shoelaces, not thinking about what it would look like to her) he pulled the ring out of his sock and popped the question! Fun Fact: One of Rachel’s Christmas presents to Mike that year was elastic shoe laces to prevent any more “false alarms”. Turns out he didn’t need them.

Clothes of some kind we hope. Semi Formal attire is recommended. But what does that even mean, am I right? For men, that could mean a button down dress shirt, suit jacket and nice slacks. For women, that could look like a long evening dress, dressy suit or formal, longer-length cocktail dresses. Don’t be afraid to get classy, you’ll be in good company. Also, it’s worth noting that the ceremony and reception are both indoors and air-conditioned.
We ask that you arrive by 3:45pm. The ceremony starts at 4pm sharp.
Parking for the ceremony will be at Oak Pointe Church Milford in the lot by the main entrance. For the reception, parking will be alongside the drive to the barn. We will have someone directing you to your parking spot.
You can bet your bottom dollar there will be dancing! All skill levels welcome. The only requirement is to have fun!! *10 bonus points to anyone who breakdances at our wedding*
We both get this question a lot. We thought we could save time and answer it here: Mike plays 12 and Rachel plays 11. The instruments include guitar, piano, violin, bass, drums, harmonica, accordion, trumpet, mandolin, djembe, cajon, bodhran, hammer dulcimer, ukulele, banjo, pan flute, recorder and voice.
SO EXCITED.
