We met online, the new normal. We talked every day for a month before finally meeting in person. Our first date was perfect - dinner, movie, and drinks. The rest is history. We dated long distance for about 1.5 years, and then moved in together. Shortly after, we adopted our dog Cosmo (best thing to happen to us). Mike graduated college, and we moved to Madison for our jobs. Throughout our time dating, we’ve travelled, spent time with friends & family, explored outside, and become dog obsessed people. But the best part has been doing it all together.
2020 was not a fun year for most of us. However, we had a bright spot in the year, when we got engaged. We went to Door County for the weekend, for a socially-distanced camping get-away. We went hiking, kayaking, had wine, and cooked over a fire. We went on a hike that we hadn't done before, and found this amazing view on a cliff, looking out onto the bay. Mike told me to face the bay, to get a picture (I love pictures). When I turned around, Mike was on one knee, asking me to marry him. We were completely alone on this gorgeous cliff, with perfect weather. Mike hadn't planned this spot specifically, but when he saw it, he knew he couldn't wait. It was the best proposal either of us could imagine.
