FAQs

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

The dress code for our wedding is semi-formal. We kindly ask that guests join us in cocktail or dressy attire—suits, dresses, or similar—and please, no jeans. We can’t wait to celebrate this special day with you in style!

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

We’ve reserved a block of rooms for our guests at the AC Hotel in the East Village. Please see the Travel tab for additional details and booking information.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

We’re so excited to celebrate with our closest family and friends! Due to limited space, we’re only able to accommodate the guests listed on your invitation. We hope you understand and can still join us for this special day!

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

We recommend parking in the lot across from the church, which is available until midnight. The reception venue is about a five-block walk from the church. If you are staying at the hotel, we suggest taking the hotel shuttle or walking. The church is about a two-block from the hotel. Please see the travel page for a map of the events.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Please arrive at Capitol Hill Lutheran Church by 2:45 PM to allow time to find a seat before the ceremony begins.

Question

Is there a break between the ceremony & the cocktail hour?

Answer

Yes—there will be a break in between. We hope you’ll take the opportunity to explore the East Village before cocktail hour begins at 5:00 PM. A few of our favorite nearby spots include Ernie's Boondock, the Iowa State Capitol, and Up-Down—plus plenty of fun local shops to wander through.
