He noticed me but was too shy to come over. So, in classic wingman fashion, he sent one of his friends to break the ice. Eventually, he made his way over, and before we knew it, I was sitting with the whole group, laughing and talking like we'd known each other forever. What started as a casual hangout turned into friendship that quietly grew deeper over time. We talked about life, about the future, and slowly, something real began to form between us. I still remember being so upset about missing my family reunion - something we call W.O.B.B.L.E - after a string of canceled flights. He saw how disappointed I was and, without hesitation, suggested a weekend getaway to his family's favorite spot: his cousin's home on Shelter Island. That weekend changed everything.
