Maid of Honor
Lowrie met Liz in 1998 when they were 14. There are many embarrassing photos from high school dances with too much eyeliner. None of those are as embarrassing as the collection of photos Liz took of Lowrie leaving bathrooms, however. High school was weird.
Attendants of Honor
Mike's siblings, whose massive database of embarrassing stories is a good reminder that sometimes you don't evolve too far from the person who gets real excited and spells the word 'wrong' with a J. But more than being able to describe the unforgettable feeling of Mike's Tyco Fast Traxx r/c car ramming into their ankles, Matt and Caitlin were the first people Mike learned to navigate the world and negotiate relationships with, and simply his oldest friends.
Bride's Crew
Lowrie and Kate were born in the same hospital in the northeast of England in January 1984, so they have literally known each other all of Kate's life (Lowrie is 5 days wiser). Thanks to Kate's awesome job, they still get to have drinks in big cities occasionally, and thanks to the wonders of the internet, they still get to chat regularly about how cute Bean is.
Groomsman
Steve and Mike shared a homeroom and a bus route freshman year in high school, and have been friends since. Both share an affinity for running and dad jokes, though only one has the human children necessary to make deploying those jokes justifiable. (Photo: Steve's wedding, 2007)
Bride's Crew
Cythera and Lowrie met in middle school, at perhaps the most awkward age. They quickly bonded over making fun of other people's sock lengths to mask their own insecurities. Despite this rocky beginning, they have both grown into compassionate and interesting people who try and bring good to the world.
Groomsman
A member of Mike's high school crew, Paul is as formidable a poker opponent as he is generous and thoughtful in his personal life, which is to say, very - including hosting a watch party the opening weekend of March Madness, when the high school gang gets together to make fun of bad sports announcing and tell 20-year-old stories to the boredom of anybody else in the room.
Bride's Crew
Lowrie and Kelsey met before college started and Lowrie was afraid to live with her because she didn't think someone as pretty as Kelsey could be nice, hah! Lowrie is very glad she pushed through her concerns because college would not have been the same without Kelsey's friendship and sense of fun!
Groomsman
John and Mike have been friends since freshman year of high school, bonding over memorable sports moments like the Phillies' 2008 World Series run, political discussions while holding mostly opposite views, and Twitter ephemera. They live and work in politics in D.C., and their friendship has only strengthened by the shared experience of witnessing the degradation of our democracy first-hand.
Bride's Crew
Aly and Lowrie were friends in college and lived together for one of the best years of Lowrie's life. Sigh, the fun and freedom that comes with finishing college and thinking you have your shit together. Lucky for Lowrie, Aly moved to the DC area after college, so she was here to welcome her in 2010.
Groomsman
Will and Mike have been friends since freshman year of high school, and spent a good portion of their senior year homeroom period reading funny stories on The Onion's website. It's gratifying that almost two decades later they get to do the same thing, except mostly on Twitter, and while getting paid. (Photo: Will's wedding, 2010)
Bride's Crew
Lowrie and Allie were kind of famous in college because they had an amazing blog called Ultimate Hotties. It's really too cool to even explain, but if you know, you know. Ultimate hottie-dom has taken them, and other members of the Bride's Crew, on many adventures to exotic locations all over the... Southern United States.
Groomsman
Would you be surprised to learn that Tom is also part of Mike's high school crew, and that they were in the same homeroom freshman year? In fact, growing up, Tom even shared the same address as another groomsman, Will, on top of sharing a last name. Pretty mind-blowing. (Photo: Tom's wedding, 2011)
Officiant
Lowrie met Henry in Jacksonville and they spent much of his year there checking out local dive bars and ranting about politics. That's actually a lot of what they do these days as well, but these days Mike comes along, and the nights wrap up way earlier because Henry has a family to go home to and Lowrie gets tired at 9PM. Henry is an amazing photographer, but he's behind the camera more than in front of it!
Pet party
Lowrie's cat soulmate. 13. Siamese, sassy, unrelentingly pretty. She's hungry, and she'll tell you about it.
Bride's Crew
Kristin and Lowrie met through an old roommate of Lowrie's (she was kind of a mess; they both still can't believe they were friends with her) and quickly bonded over cupcakes and cats. She moved to NYC where Lowrie introduced her to Liz. They became such good friends that Lowrie sometimes has to remind them both that she comes first (kidding, mostly).
Pet party
Former street brawler turned cuddle monster. The softest cat you'll ever meet. Lowrie adopted him 10 years ago, but, no, she's definitely not bitter about Mayhem preferring Mike's lap.
Bride's Crew
Shannon moved into Lowrie's apartment in Jacksonville, sight unseen, after Lowrie's thorough powerpoint tour. The day she moved in, she organized all of the cabinets and cleaned up messes Lowrie swore she would deal with for months. She introduced Lowrie to the Settlers of Catan and the magic of stove-top-cooked popcorn.
Pet party
The newest addition to Lowrie and Mike's happy zoo. Anywhere from 3-25 years old, Bean is a very medium boy with a yearning for new smells, kibble and a couch. He will snatch your plate of food if you're not looking. Aroo.
