How could such an innocuous thing lead to something so enduring? How could either of us have known that sandwiches would lead to love? Our first date was a simple luncheon, with no plans for later; a conservative affair, in case things went poorly, but it had room for more if things went swimmingly. Lunch went on for nearly two hours, then grew to a trip to upper Bidwell Park. Two more hours were spent walking along, and in, Big Chico Creek. All of nature seemed to enjoy our date; not only was the weather perfect and current gentle, but birds, bees, fish, and crayfish came out to watch our love begin.
We were on a wonderful summer vacation enjoying the redwoods of the northern California coast, as well as views of the ocean. Mike took Kristy to a lookout point under the guise of taking some sunset and star pictures. What Kristy did not know was that Mike was planning on proposing. Looking out onto a beautiful, peachy pink sunset, Mike got down on one knee and popped the question. Who knew that he would still be able to surprise Kristy after almost 6 years together?
