We met thru an online dating app (ask us if you want to know which app) and started talking since May 2020. It was long distance since one was in Louisiana and one was in Houston. None of us would never think that we would become anything as we literally fought in every conversation hahaha. But somehow we agreed to meet up in person for the first time in Houston (June 2020). The date didn't go too well. We fought again!!! Lmao. At this point, we thought we would never meet each other again. But God seemed to have his own plan. We decided to give each other the second chance. We then went out for the 2nd date. This time, we understood each other better. We didn't fight (thankfully). After that, we started to hangout more, did more things together, cared more for each other, and of course fight less lol. We complete each other. Time goes by and here we are, in 2025, we are holding our dream wedding in November 29th in Viet Nam. We are steps closer to officially become a family so that we can proudly call each other Husband and Wife^^. Wanna see our Save The Date and Proposal videos??? We started to plan the wedding in Viet Nam since January 2025. We booked the main vendors (MC, makeup artist, pre-wedding studio, wedding day studio, venue, wedding decor) very early to make sure our wedding date was reserved. They said end of the year is usually "wedding storm" (many people get married during that time). We wanted to have a wedding outdoor near the beach with fireworks but since the wedding day was end of Nov but that month is known for raining season, especially in Phan Rang (Kha's hometown) is known for having strong wind during that time. Therefore, we were advised to get a venue inside (Long Thuan Resort). It is what it is that we knew our wedding wouldn't be outside or neither firework but we would still make the best out of it. We wanted to have a mix culture wedding with Vietnamese traditional Tea Ceremony in the morning (the groom family comes to ask the bride's family to take the bride) following by American culture - the Vow and the evening Reception with knife dance (Iranian culture). We felt loved when our families and friends in US (more than 20 people) flew to the other side of the earth to celebrate our wedding and visit Viet Nam. We had a few slow months on planning since all the main vendors were booked. However, right before 1 month of the wedding (October), things got crazy. At first, we got a notice that our venue is no longer in active since Long Thuan Resort claimed closing down. At that time we already printed out 500 invitation cards and sent a few to our family members and friends in VN. We were rushing to find a new venue with the help of parent in VN. But since the hotels where we booked for everyone to stay are near the beach so we had to find a venue near there for easy transportation. We found Sai Gon Ninh Chu. The only option that we had was outside. So we made a bet on the weather. When the venue was picked, we reprinted the invitations in 3 days to send them out on time. During that time, Kha also got interview for her citizenship. She passed it. Yes, it was the happiest news as she waited 11 years for this. However, the naturalization ceremony weren't scheduled till Nov 12th (2 days before our flight to VN). We were freaked out and didn't know what to do at that time. She either had to come to the ceremony and hope to get her USA passport the next day (Nov 13th) or reschedule it till next year. The problem didn't stop there. At the same time, the US government was shut down, the airport turned chaos with 4-5 hrs waiting lines as there wasn't enough TSA workers, some domestic flights were ordered to be canceled due to the airport traffic and there were storms and floods in those cities that we planned to visit in VN. We were constantly checking the news everyday. A lot of praying of course. But we believed everything would be fine. God has his plans. Kha decided to take a risk to attend the ceremony so she could apply for the passport the next day and hope for it to be issued at the same day. And yes, thanks God, our pray was listened. She got her US passport 1 day before we flew out. On the same day, the government opened back up and the waiting time at the airport was normal. Two weeks before the wedding, Phan Rang was flooded. Everyone was stressed out since the weather didn't seem to be on our side. The night before the wedding, Kha's parents called and asked to move to an inside venue (backup plan) because they were worried that it could be rain the next day. But it was too late. Everything was set. We made the decision to keep it outside as we wanted it originally. It is our wedding after all. And thanks to that strong mind, we ended up having our dream wedding outdoor near the beach without wind or heavy rain but with fireworks and with all the people that we love instead.
