FAQs

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

Please refer to your invite for your plus one information!

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

Please refer to the Travel page for a list of recommended hotels. Our wedding weekend falls on Mother's Day as well as College of Charleston graduation. With that in mind, hotels and airbnbs will book up fast so we strongly recommend you book as early as possible. Staying in downtown Charleston will be the easiest option as our Welcome Party, Ceremony, and transportation will be located there. However, places like Folly Beach, James Island, Sullivan's Island, and Mount Pleasant are a 20/30 minute drive from downtown and are great options, especially if you're planning a longer stay for a beach vacation.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Welcome Party: Cocktail/coat, no tie. Wedding Ceremony & Reception: Black-tie preferred. Due to restrictions on the boat, pointed heels are not allowed. Block heels, wedges, or flats are welcome. We look forward to seeing you in your finest!

Question

How long does the boat sail?

Answer

The boat will leave the dock at 6pm and sail around the Charleston harbor for three hours, docking again at 9pm. Please be aware that during those three hours the boat will not be able to stop or dock for any reason, barring a medical emergency. Once we dock at 9pm, for those that wish to call it an early night, you're free to hop off the boat. However, the party will continue on the boat until 10pm and it's our hope you join us on the open air top deck dance floor to close down the night!

Question

Is transportation provided?

Answer

Please see transportation details on the Travel page.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Everyone's favorite southern humidity will be on the rise by May so it may feel warm if you're not used to it. For all our southerners, it should feel nice and balmy. Expect highs of 80 degrees and lows of 60 degrees. The Carolina Girl Yacht has both indoor and outdoor spaces, with A/C in the interior. The dance floor is on the open air top deck and we'll get a nice breeze as we cruise the Charleston harbor and dance the night away.

Question

What if I don't want to go on the boat?

Answer

Please contact Cecily Hughes (864-992-2914) if you would like to attend the ceremony but not the boat reception. We know that three hours on a boat is not everyone's idea of fun and we completely understand if you feel you need to skip this portion of the night! Your presence means the world to us in whatever way feels most comfortable to you.

Question

What if I get seasick?

Answer

We have been assured by the captain and crew that no one has gotten sick on the yacht, even those with a history of seasickness. We will be in the calm waters of the Charleston Harbor for the duration of the evening.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

As much as we love your little ones, our wedding weekend will be adults only!

Question

Can I take pictures?

Answer

During the ceremony we ask that you be present with us without your phone. Otherwise, we'd love for you to capture our special day!
