Once upon a time there was a girl who loved a boy, and her laughter was a question he wanted to spend his whole life answering. This is their story; before they fell in love- They both grew up attending Cedar Springs Public Schools, however looking back at every class each year, Band was the only class they had together. Which was 2 years of middle school. And they sat on opposite sides of the room. Heather did volleyball, soccer, and track. Mike did football, wrestling, and baseball. Needless to say the opportunity for them to talk didn't happen very much. Or at all. Fast forward 10 years: Mike's cousin is Ty Conaty. Heather's best friend Shannon, married Ty Conaty. Heather moved back to their hometown and therefore was able to hang out with Shannon regularly. In doing so, Mike reached out to Shannon to see if Heather would be interested in going out. To which Heather and Shannon had a mild freak out session that the famously cute Mike VanHemert was interested in Heather. Their freak out session took longer than expected and Mike asked Heather out himself in which Heather of course said yes and they were officially dating a week later. Then, after 2 years, Mike asked Heather to marry him Christmas morning by hiding the ring in a glass ornament in their Christmas tree.
