Travel and Places to Stay

Juneau is fantastic, however, expect some challenges when it comes to transportation around town. It is a difficult place to get around without a car, I highly recommend renting one. We also recommend reserving accommodation as soon as you can, people book early because of summer tourism. First, I would decide where in Juneau you want to stay. The wedding ceremony will be "out the road" or north from the Ferry Terminal and about 30min from Downtown. There is limited accommodation out the road. You would need to look for Airbnbs (I saw some great ones in the "Auke Bay" area). If you stay Downtown, it gives you the chance to walk to historical places, museums, bars, breweries, etc. The city bus can get you to "the valley" area and Mendenhall Glacier (not past the De Hart's store, you would need car for that). You could also stay in the valley area, hotels there are more your standard chain hotels unless you opt for an Airbnb or regular B&B. Reach out if you have questions!
