Thank You

We just want to express our extreme gratitude for everyone's continued support through this crazy time. Planning a wedding is not easy in and of itself, but throw in a global pandemic and that just add a whole new set of challenges and craziness. While a micro wedding was not what we had in mind, the safety of our loved ones and ourselves is our top priority and at the end of the day we will be married and that is really what matters. We cannot wait to celebrate with everyone some day soon. We send all of our love and gratitude to you. Stay safe and stay healthy. With love, The Soon-To-Be Mr. and Mrs. Kaplan

How We Met

December 26, 2016

We were introduced over text by a mutual friend on the day after Christmas in 2016 and actually didn't meet in person until we went on our first date on January 15, 2017! We drove up the cost to Encinitas and had dinner at the Bier Garden, which some might say is telling of our relationship because since we've been together we have tasted a lot of beer and done our fare share of gardening together. After dinner we went back to Mikey's house and sat around the fire pit. It was low key and perfect. We officially started dating on January 24, 2017 after spending pretty much all of our free time together. From there, it was all downhill. It didn't take either of us very long to realize that we had found the person we wanted to spend forever with. -Emily

Proposal

October 24, 2019

As weird and cliche as it is, I knew Emily was the one after the first time I met her. Of course I couldn't pop the question on the first date haha! After a few years of dating, getting taken in by her family, and several months of designing the perfect ring, I was ready. Emily and I are both pretty low key and I knew she wouldn't want a restaurant full of people clapping for us when we got engaged. Initially I planned to do it in Redding, at Christmas time... that didn't work out! I tried thinking of other places that meant something to us within our relationship, of course that was a scramble. I booked tickets a few months prior to go see one of our favorite musicians on a Friday evening in Los Angeles. When I booked the tickets I had no idea I was going to propose beforehand! It just happened to work out... I came home from work early, picked up some flowers, got down on one knee and asked Emily to be my wife in our tiny apartment with our cat as our witness. It wasn't flashy, but it was us. Right there in our small living room, a place that is special to the both of us. She said yes, called her parents, and then immediately started planning the wedding! I don't think she has stopped looking at her left hand since then. - Michael
