From Lakeside High to Bear Lake, to finally The Lake House at Bulow, we are happy to share the day with you!
We couldn't start this story without first mentioning the person who connected us from the beginning, Mike's sister, Cat. She was a good friend to me at our years at Lakeside High in Augusta, GA. It was there Mike and I shared the now infamous Spanish class his junior year and my sophomore year. When he wasn't sleeping (and apparently learning by osmosis) he teased me. Over the years, we all stayed in touch and met up even after Mike & Cat moved to Charleston. During those times, Mike and I, both, at times thought "maybe" but it never became more than that. Mostly, we were on different paths and lived in different states. It wasn't until the end of Fall 2013 that we decided to give it a shot. When we both realized, that this was something real, we made our relationship official on New Years Day in 2014. Since that day, every day has been New Years Day as our lives grew together and eventually I moved to Charleston too. Mike was my first ever New Years Eve kiss that day we made it official. One would think in six years, he would have been my first kiss under a mistletoe as well. It's not that I didn't have relationships, I just didn't have any during which any of these landmark kisses ever occurred. Our first Christmas together, I hung the mistletoe my niece gifted us. He ran so fast the other way to be funny but, suffice to say, I hung that mistletoe every Christmas and never tried to meet him under it again. it became a running joke, literally. One night in January 2020, Mike was standing in the archway separating our living room from the den. I asked him if he was ready for bed and he said yes but was looking at me strangely. I met him where he was standing and he wrapped his arms around me. He kissed me and said "you're such a goober." I laughed and asked him "why?" He said "look up." When I did, I realized we were right under the mistletoe! Before I could wonder why, he pulled out a small purple box. He asked me to marry him and I definitely said "yes!"
