Adriana had just moved into her college dorm, and it was also the day we met for the first time. Adriana was homesick in a city she had never been to before and reached out to a friend to see what she was up to. Her friend invited Adriana over to hang out and Mike happened to be there as well. Adriana's first impression of Mike was that he was funny, friendly, and welcoming. Mike thought she was cute, witty, and genuine. Over the next few months Mike would run into Adriana on campus and he would stop and talk to her often making him late to whatever class he was headed to. Adriana thought it was pretty cool that a junior was always stopping to talk to her. Mike and Adriana were talking more regularly and eventually started going out on dates. On our first date we went to a really trendy restaurant on UPenn's campus and Adriana ordered a mushroom burger which turned out to be this giant mushroom on a bun with no patty. Mike hates mushrooms but offered to split half of his sandwich with her so that she would have something to eat. Mike asked Adriana to be his girlfriend in February and they are celebrating their 7th anniversary right before the wedding in July.

We were both preparing for graduation and preparing for the future. We were looking for jobs and Mike told Adriana that he would go wherever she wanted. Shortly after this Mike decided that he wanted to propose to her. Mike started to go ring shopping after his night classes before going home to his apartment. He learned about diamonds and what style of rings he liked and kept all of this a secret from her. He went and designed a ring one night while Adriana was back in Indianapolis for one of her clinical rotations. She didn't expect a thing. Mike and Adriana planned a trip to Hawaii to celebrate both of their graduations that year. Adriana finished pharmacy school and Mike finished his Masters. Mike thought, what could possibly top proposing in Hawaii and decided that would be the time and the place. On the way to Hawaii Adriana turned to Mike out of the blue and said "This is the exact manicure I want to have when you propose to me." Mike thought that his cover was surely blown and she had to have known what was coming. The morning after we landed we were talking a stroll on the beach at sunrise and Mike asked a passerby to take a couple of photos of the two of them. After a couple of pictures, Adriana suggested that we take a candid shot. Mike said good idea and got down on one knee. For the rest of our time in Hawaii we had another thing to celebrate and Adriana had a new sparkly accessory.
