FAQs

The Wedding Website of Elise Macur and Mike Carey
We can't wait to share this special day with you. Here are some common questions you may have regarding our special day. If you have any other questions that aren't answered here, please feel free to reach out to us!
Question

Can I bring my children?

Answer

We love your children, but this is an adult-only affair. Please hire yourself a babysitter and have a great night out!

Question

Can I Bring a Guest?

Answer

If you received a plus one, this will appear under your name when you RSVP. Please ensure you are RSVPing for yourself and your guest. Due to limited space, we can only accommodate those guests formally invited on your invitation.

Question

Who do I make a check out to?

Answer

If you would like to make a check out to the happy couple please fill it out to Michael Carey and Elise Macur or CASH.

Question

What do I do between the ceremony and reception (AKA the "Catholic Gap")?

Answer

There is about 2 hour gap in between the ceremony and reception, this is to allow the bride and groom to get all pictures done so they can enjoy the entire night, cocktail hour included! Please do not go immediately to the reception venue. We recommend grabbing an afternoon coffee nearby (to keep you going on the dance floor), taking a walk on the Newburgh Waterfront, running back to the hotel for your dancing shoes, or grabbing a pre-reception cocktail. There are plenty of places in downtown Newburgh.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Yes! We would like everyone dressed their best for our special day. We request semi-formal / cocktail attire for our wedding. For ladies, a dress/pants below the knee or floor length. For gentlemen, a suit or dress pants and a button-down collared shirt. You can wear any color you like, but we kindly request you do not wear white, ivory, or similar colors. Just a heads up, the groomsmen will be wearing navy blue suits, and the bridesmaids will be in cinnamon colored dresses.

Question

Can I take pictures?

Answer

We would like to have an 'unplugged' ceremony. We ask that all phones and similar devices are put away and on silent during the ceremony. We have hired a professional photographer and videographer to capture one of the most important moments of our lives. We would hate to have a well-intentioned person's phone or device blocking that moment for them to capture. After the ceremony, feel free to take as many photos as you want! We promise to share all ceremony photos with you as soon as we get them.

Question

What if I can't make it?

Answer

You will be dearly missed! Please RSVP accordingly so we can make accurate plans. If you have already RSVP'd yes, and plans have changed, please email us ASAP at macurcareywedding@gmail.com and we will make the necessary change.

Question

What are the parking accommodations?

Answer

Both the church and the Powelton Club have ample parking available on site in the form of lots.

Question

Accessibility

Answer

Both the church and the venue are wheel-chair accessible.

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

The ceremony will begin at 2pm. We ask that you arrive no later than 1:45 to give you time to park and find a seat. The reception will follow at 5pm. Please take the two hour gap to relax and unwind before arriving to the party! There are many parks, restaurants, and bars in the area you can visit in the downtime.
