It all started in high school, freshman year. Mikayla and Nathan rode the same bus, and because of assigned seating they sat next to each other and got to know one another. The time was all wrong. Nathan was in a relationship at the time, and Mikayla was focused entirely on school with no interest in having a relationship at the time. As they got into junior year of high school, they hardly spoke other than passing each other in the hall since they no longer rode the bus to go to school. Fast forward four years after they last spoke and while Mikayla was enjoying a great weekend with friends at Megacon, Nathan then reached out to her. Nathan had always enjoyed their conversations and knew they had A LOT in common. Nathan took Mikayla out on their first date and had broken Mikayla’s dating streak and got to date #2, and that’s how she knew he was the one. The two kicked it off as no time had ever passed and had a great connection that felt like forever. Fast forward after a fantastic year and a half with each other, and the two are excited about getting married and being able to start the next chapter of their lives together.
I had been planning it for months. I was going to ask Mikayla on our anniversary, June 3, we had planned on spending the entire day together and spend a beautiful day out on the water and finally use our new boat. I planned on asking her romantically while out on the water under the sunset, or at a nice dinner, I wanted to have. But nothing ever goes as planned. I had hidden the ring in my truck and prepared everything else for that day. We got the boat ready, and our picnic lunch and all we had to do was stop to fill the cooler with ice. I had one of the worst ideas ever and put the money where I hid the ring, I told her to close her eyes to get the money for the ice, I told her I had another surprise for her later in the day I didn’t want her to see. She insisted on me to give it to her then after protesting and her insisting I proposed to her in my truck. While stopping for ice, I ruined one of the biggest moments of her life. But it was also one of the reasons I know that we will be happily married forever because after the astonishment faded, she still said yes. So we planned our special day on June 3rd, even though it's a Monday, because that day means a lot to the both of us. Not only being our second anniversary, of the day we became a couple. Now and forever it will also mean the day we say "I do."
