Well probably only some of you know this, but we actually met on Tinder! Yes, it doesn't have the greatest reputation, but it brought us together. I swiped right first (I liked his beard, height, and glasses). Erik swiped right when he saw a picture of me with two guys from Achievement Hunter, a YouTube gaming group ("She must be cool if she likes them"). He basically screamed at me in the first message about them. We talked for about a day then set up a date at Chuy's a couple days later. The rest is history.
We had been talking about marriage ever since the first couple months of dating. We knew we were made for each other so why not discuss it? Since we moved in together in the Summer of 2019 and we were planning on getting a house the next year, I figured it would be reasonable to think he would propose to me before 2019 was over. Obviously, I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, so when we went to the Wizarding World in Orlando at the beginning of December, I thought he might ask me there! And yet, he didn't. Come to find out later that week, he knew I wanted him to ask me there and that's why he didn't. I understood and started hoping for Christmas. Christmas came and we woke up that morning and exchanged presents. Afterwards, we went to visit his family and then mine. While at my family's house, I thought he might ask there. And yet, he didn't. Rewind a bit, I started feeling sick on Christmas Eve. So we decided to go home early on Christmas and relax. We got comfy and he suggested we watch an Achievement Hunter video. Now if you read "how we met", you would know that AH brought us together. We got about halfway through the video and he paused it. He said oh wait, I have an extra AH gift I forgot to give you. He walked into the bedroom and before he came out, he said I had to close my eyes. I did and when I opened them, he was down on one knee in front of me. He asked and I said yes! Luckily I wasn't contagious because I kissed him all over the face after that.
