Their story began as friends in high school. They had mutual friends and knew each other from an English class early on, but they didn’t really connect until junior year when they ended up in chemistry together. Nate was always competing to be Mikayla’s lab partner—which worked out perfectly because Mikayla preferred writing the reports while Nate loved pushing the limits with the experiments. What started as working on homework over FaceTime and sharing class notes slowly turned into a closer friendship. They stayed connected through a shared love of video games—especially late-night sessions of GTA. The summer before senior year, Nate made the decision to finish high school at Steamboat High School in Colorado so he could focus on what he loved, including snowboarding. But before leaving, he made sure to say goodbye properly and asked Mikayla to hang out one last time before he left. They went for a long bike ride on the rail trail where they even spotted a deer. Even while Nate was in Colorado for two years, they kept in touch with occasional messages and late-night gaming sessions. When he eventually moved back to New Hampshire, Nate asked Mikayla out on a date—and the rest is history. Five years later, after countless adventures together, they’re excited to start their greatest adventure yet: a lifetime together.
