Mikala had a few requests for her proposal story: she wanted to be surprised, she wanted to be in nature, but not on a hike, and she wanted to have pictures of it. In order to surprise her, Christin started laying groundwork months in advance - having our friend, Liz, drop hints about wanting to update her website and needing different people to "model" her jewelry for it, encouraging our 9-year niece, Charlie, to ask on an almost weekly basis for a girls nail day, and countless hours thinking through the perfect place and time to ask. As the day approached, Christin strongly encouraged Mikala to finally go get her nails done with Charlie on that morning, which just so happened to coincide perfectly with the day Liz wanted to shoot pictures for their website update at Mowich Lake in Mount Rainier National Park. Christin just wouldn't be able to join in on the fun, as she had to go to work that day and couldn't get out of it - or at least, so Mikala thought. In actuality, Christin was putting the finishing touches on things for the engagement party and preparing to drive out to a bridge on the way to Mowich, where Mikala was going to be stopping for her first pictures. Once they arrived, Mikala and Liz walked down the bridge, and Christin followed behind them, unbeknownst to Mikala. After taking a few pictures, Christin took Mikala's hand and walked with her down to the middle of the bridge, where Christin asked Mikala to marry her. Shocked and surprised, Mikala said yes - and now they are looking forward to eternity and back!
